Serengeti

A vast sea of grass swarming with wildlife, the Serengeti is the classic Africa of our imagination. It is a true wildlife eden, supporting the greatest concentration of plains game in Africa. The world’s most famous game park is also home to nature’s grandest drama: the great migration. For any visitor this is a spectacular sight: huge numbers of wildebeest charging through the plains, with the weak and injured at the back of the procession and the alert and watchful predators hot on their heels.

The Serengeti National Park is located in north-western Tanzania and extends to south-western Kenya, spanning some 30 000 square kilometress. It is an International Biosphere Reserve, and also an important archeological site, with human evidence dating back 3.5 million years having been discovered at the Olduvai Gorge on the eastern Serengeti plains.

A highlight for visitors to the Serengeti National Park is a walking safari which takes them into the best areas of this game-packed region, camping amongst the wildlife.
