Wine tourism is one of South Africa’s fastest growing industries especially in the Western Cape where the beautiful Cape Winelands stretch from the Olifants River Valley in the west to the Breede River Valley in the east. Notably, the areas around Stellenbosch, Franschhoek, Paarl and Tulbagh have become world famous for their reds, whites, brandies and ports. They enchant visitors with their traditional Cape Dutch farmsteads situated in lush valleys and surrounded by impressive mountain ranges. It’s an exquisite indulgence to travel through this region tasting some of the country’s top wines, eating at the renowned restaurants, having picnics on the lawns and delving into the art of local wine-making.
